The reward for information on the shooting of several cows in Jeff Davis Parish has been increased again after a bull was found shot in the head on January 25.
The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office says the reward for information that leads to an arrest has been increased to $3,000 by the Livestock Brand Commission. An additional $800 was donated by the Jeff Davis Parish Cattleman’s Association.
Earlier this month, the commission and JDPSO had set the reward at $2,200 after donations were made from a Lake Charles farmer and the Cattleman’s Association.
An incident was first reported on January 14 after more than five cows were found shot in the head near Faul and Lone Pine Road north of Welsh. The suspect reportedly used a small caliber weapon. All five cows are expected to recover.
