The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in separate abuse cases in the parish.
The first occurred on Sunday night in Lake Arthur. Deputies say they were called to the scene of a domestic disturbance at a home on Hwy 14.
Deputies say that an argument between a husband and wife while wrapping presents led to the alleged incident. The woman told deputies that her husband threw an object at her striking her in the forehead. The couple’s three children, according to deputies, were home at the time of the incident.
26-year-old Dustin Dwayne Sonnier of Lake Arthur was arrested and booked on charges of domestic abuse battery and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.
A second incident occurred on Christmas Eve in Lacassine.
According to deputies, a young boy allegedly received two black eyes after his father struck him. The incident was reported by a neighbor who told deputies she noticed the bruising when he came over to play.
Deputies say they questioned the child and his father and discovered that the man had allegedly struck the child causing blackening and bruising in both eyes.
37-year-old Joseph Adam Ducote was arrested and booked on charges of cruelty to a juvenile. Ducote is currently in the parish jail. No bond has been set.
