Still no arrests in a double homicide investigation in Jeff Davis Parish.

72-year-old Walter Gotreaux and his 70-year-old wife, Darlene, were found dead inside their home on Highway 90, west of Lacassine.

Deputies are guarding the home until detectives release the crime scene to the Gotreaux family.

“We’re doing our best to make sure we catch these guys as soon as possible,” said Sheriff Ivy Woods. “We’re still looking throughout the neighborhood for cameras from houses in the area. If anyone has a camera facing the highway or in the area.”

The Gotreauxs’ were last seen on Sunday morning when their farmhand brought them home after church. We’re told he was the last person to see them alive.

“He drove them down there because Mr. Gotreaux wasn’t feeling well,” said Woods. “At this time, he’s not a suspect.”

The Gotreauxs’ are well known in the Lacassine community. Walter was an insurance agent, farmer and the President of the Cajun French Music Association’s Lake Charles Chapter.

“When they have gatherings for church or school everyone comes to support and he was one of those people,” Woods said.

Darlene was an area banker.

“If she saw me, she’d always come up and give me a hug and say hi,” said Adeline Savoy.

Now, the community is praying for justice and the Gotreaux family.

“God watches over us and takes care of us everyday,” Savoy said. “I hope he blesses that family very well.”
