Jefferson Davis Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a husband and wife in Jennings from a possible overdose.
Deputies say they responded to a call at approximately 1:30 pm Tuesday of a possible overdose on South Cutting street in Jennings.
The caller advised deputies that her daughter and daughter’s husband were found unresponsive. When deputies arrived they discovered the two, identified as 40-year-old Courtney Jenay Melerine and 46-year-old Kevin John Melerine of Jennings unresponsive. The coroner’s office was called to the scene and confirmed the two were deceased.
Detectives are investigating the deaths and awaiting toxicology results. Their bodies have been turned over to the Jeff Davis Parish Coroner’s Office.
