Iberia Parish held their annual Parish Hurricane Preparation Meeting on Wednesday, May 29 at the Silman Theater in New Iberia.
At the meeting, Parish President M. Larry Richard introduced those in attendance to the parish’s new public emergency alert system and hurricane evacuation planning requirements for the parish.
KATC’s Chief Meteorologist Rob Perillo was present to review the implications of recent hurricane seasons for the parish and updated forecasting tools from the National Hurricane Center.
Also speaking at the meeting was GOSHEP’s Director of Emergency Management Chris Guilbeaux. Richard says that Guilbeaux addressed the state’s preparations to support the parish during the hurricane season.
The meeting began at 10:00 am.
