Southern was taken to the hospital but died a short time late.

Neighbors say an incident like this is out of the ordinary for the area, but Broussard is often involved in suspicious activity.

“You could kind of see that he was trouble. Other neighbors say that he’s been a problem around here for a while. I’ve seen the cops come here recently and arrest him,” says Tyler Dupuis, who lives across the street from Broussard.

Deputies say Broussard fled the scene in a green 2000 Chevrolet Impala with the Louisiana license plate 957ARY. He was last seen with two females in the vehicle, the spokesman says.

Broussard is considered armed and dangerous.
