A woman wanted in connection with a shooting over the weekend is now in police custody and another has been arrested in connection with the investigation.
New Iberia Police say that Aries Antoine was arrested and charged in the Oak street shooting which occurred on December 23. She was booked Tuesday into the Iberia Parish Jail on the charge of attempted second degree murder and aggravated assault.
A second person, Laura Savoie of New Iberia, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. This arrest, police say, is related to the shooting investigation.
Savoie was arrested on Sunday and booked in the Iberia Parish Jail. The charges are related to an incident that happened days before the shooting. Police say the Savoie allegedly attempted to hit a man with a vehicle she was driving. Officials say that man had a prior relationship with Antoine.
A photo of Savoie was not released.
