A popular golf course in Acadiana may be closing after more than 30 years in operation.
The owner of Squirrel Run Golf Club in New Iberia, Perry Segura says he is planning to close the club by February 1st. Segura said he has explored several opportunities to keep the 18-hole golf course open, even offering to donate it to Iberia Parish Government.
Segura says he decided to close the course because he is retiring from his architecture business, and has been supporting it financially, but he couldn’t support it anymore. He says if no one is willing to buy or lease the course he will have to close it.
Segura built the course and has been operating it since 1986.
