New Iberia Police searching for vehicle involved in hit-and-run

The New Iberia Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident on Monday night.

Police say the incident happened around 7:35 pm in the 1700 block of Center Street near the Chase Bank. An unknown Ford passenger vehicle struck a man riding his bike in the area. The vehicle, according to police, is champagne in color and is believed to have damage on its front passenger side and is missing a side mirror.

The vehicle was seen turning onto Cape Palos Street and then towards E. Admiral Doyle Drive following the incident.

The victim was taken to a Lafayette hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
