The City of New Iberia will begin collecting additional sales taxes in the LA 182 economic development district.
The city council approved the taxes Tuesday evening. A vote on the LA 14 TIF district was pushed back to next month.
Councilmembers say the districts are part of a larger plan to bring business to the city.
“There’s great real estate on that side of town, some hotels and we want to continue to help develop and attract new developers for that side of town,” said Councilwoman Sherry Guidry.
