The New Iberia Police Department says the Thursday night shooting on Ann St and Twenty Arpent Road is being investigated as a homicide.
Police say the incident occurred at around 5:44 on Thursday. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Jakil Sophas, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where police say he died from his injuries.
