I-10 near Butte Larose reopens following major crash

LATEST UPDATE: Both lanes are open on I-10 westbound near Butte La Rose following a crash involving two 18-wheelers.

The backup is seven-miles long and it will take time for the road to get back to normal flow, according to a spokesperson for Louisiana State Police Troop I.

UPDATE: Only moderate injuries were sustained following a major crash on I-10 Thursday morning. Both lanes remain closed; however, the timeline to reopen is approaching. At 12:40 pm, it was estimated to take two hours to clear the crash.

Interstate 10 westbound is completely blocked at Mile Marker 121 near Butte La Rose.

The highway is blocked due to a crash involving two commercial vehicles.

Crews are working to clear the lanes of travel, but significant back-ups and delays are expected. Motorists should see alternate routes and expect heavy traffic.
