Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested three and are seeking another person in connection with a home burglary.

The incident happened on Monday at about 2 a.m. in the 1000 block of Easy Street, a spokesman said.

One suspect broke into the house via a bedroom window, and woke up the homeowner when he turned on the light. The owner shot at the suspect and hit him in the leg and arm. The suspect got out of the home, but an off-duty deputy who lived in the neighborhood heard the commotion and caught him, the spokesman said. The deputy also detained some people who were at the scene, allegedly helping the man who broke into the home.

Bailey Richardson is the suspect who is accused of breaking into the house. He was treated at a local hospital and released the same day, deputies say.

Also arrested were Christian Fruge and Devin Cachin. They and Richardson were booked with simple burglary and criminal trespassing. Their bonds have been set at $40,000.
