Ville Platte Police have arrested a local woman in connection with the theft of more than $30,000 from an attorney.

Danyelle Brignac, 34, was booked with felony identity theft and felony theft. She’s been booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail, where she remained Friday in lieu of $50,000 bond, Chief Neal Lartigue says.

Ville Platte Police were called to a law office on Main Street yesterday, the chief said.

A former employee was accused of using the personal credit card of the business owner, as well as company credit cards, to make personal purchases and pay her bills. The alleged thefts happened while she worked there, and totaled more than $30,000 the chief said.

Chief Lartigue reminds residents to report any suspicious or illegal activity to the Ville Platte Police Department by calling 363-1313. Your call will remain anonymous.
