The cleanup process is underway in Evangeline Parish after three schools received water inside the buildings after Thursday morning downpours.
Mamou Elementary School, Mamou High School and James Stephens Montessori School all received water inside.

At Mamou Elementary, all hands are on deck cleaning up the school, according to schools superintendent Darwan Lazard. The principal, employees and even staff from other schools were helping in the process, Lazard added.
Mamou High School offices are closed because of the flooding. According to the school’s Facebook page the main building had several inches of water.
Areas across Acadiana experienced flooding as a result of heavy rain moved through on Thursday morning.
