Disaster relief efforts are continuing throughout Evangeline Parish after Sunday’s tornadoes. Many of the victims are getting help from strangers.
Volunteers with the Louisiana Home and Foreign Mission Baptist Convention traveled from across the state to help with damage relief.
Organizers say not everyone has insurance, time or tools needed to pick up the damage themselves.
“We’re riding around and we’re seeing the devastation and we know people need help,” Ertha Cross with the group said. ” They wouldn’t just let a tree stay in the yard. They need help. Manpower is needed and we’re glad to meet that need. ”
The group traveled throughout the city picking up trees and debris from yards. The group is also providing food and raising money for storm victims.
If you’re in need of assistance you’re asked to call Ville Platte’s city hall.
