(UPDATE 7:02 p.m.): Storms moved through Cleco’s service territory this morning, causing widespread power outages to approximately 20,000 customers, the utility company says.

SLEMCO’s website indicates about 380 customers are without power state-wide, and Entergy’s website says they’re working to restore power to about 3,000 customers.

“All available Cleco line crews and an additional 115 contractor crews from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas have been mobilized to begin restoration efforts,” said James Lass, general manager of distribution operations and emergency management.

So far, Cleco has restored power to 78 percent of the nearly 20,000 customers.

Cleco currently has 5,700 customers without power. The company expects to restore power to 3,100 customers tonight and anticipates the remaining 2,600 customers will be restored by tomorrow afternoon.

Here are the number of people without power, by parish:

  • Evangeline Parish (Ville Platte), 2,500
  • Grant Parish, 60
  • Iberia Parish, 20
  • Rapides Parish, 20
