Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Ville Platte man earlier this month in connection with a carjacking and crash.
Deputies were called about a vehicle theft at about 9 a.m. on February 4. As they were on their way to that call, they got several more calls about a carjacking, an attempted carjacking and a crash.
Deputies found that the suspect had allegedly carjacked one person, tried to carjack another person, and had hit a woman. The woman was injured and transported to a hospital.
The alleged carjacker then crashed one of the vehicles near the intersection of Te Mamou Road and Pine Point Road, deputies say.
State Police worked the crash, and booked Terrus Arvie with reckless operation, DWI and driving left of center. The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputies booked him with Obstructing Public Passages, two counts of Battery of a Police Officer, Simple Battery, Criminal Damage to Property, two counts of Carjacking, Aggravated Second Degree Battery, Attempted Carjacking, and Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling. His bond was set at $207,000.
