The parents of the boy who went missing Friday in Evangeline Parish and found over a day later are out of jail.

Paul Thibodeaux, 45, and Minette Thibodeaux, 45, of Point Blue, were each booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail Sunday morning on one count of cruelty to juveniles.

Their bond was set at $35,000 each.

The investigation started after it was reported a boy went missing after leaving his home Friday afternoon.

Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies worked together with volunteers, including America’s Cajun Navy and Cajun Navy 2016, as they searched for the boy for hours in the Point Blue/Chataignier area.

The suspects’ son was found safe hiding under a bed at a neighbor’s home shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the boy was malnourished and that he and his sister were living in “poor conditions.”

The children are now in state custody.

America’s Cajun Navy set up a GoFundMe account for the kids. If you would like to make a donation, click here.
