Evangeline Parish – Shortly after 8:30 pm on December 17, 2018, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on LA Hwy 10 west of US Hwy 167 in Evangeline Parish. The crash took the life of 62-year-old Connie Fuselier of Eunice.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Fuselier was riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle eastbound on LA Hwy 10. At the same time, 28-year-old man was traveling westbound on LA Hwy 10 in a 2012 Dodge Ram. As the two vehicles approached, Fuselier crossed over into the westbound lane.  In an attempt to avoid the collision, the man driving the Dodge Ram steered left.  Fuselier steered back right and the vehicles struck head-on near the center line.

Fuselier suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. He was transported from the scene to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte where he succumbed to those injuries. Impairment on his part is unknown at this time, but a toxicology sample will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The man in the Dodge Ram was properly restrained and was uninjured, and impairment is not suspected. This crash remains under investigation.
