Officers say the incident occurred on Scenic Drive where the homeowner, Vidrine, reported that a man approached two vehicles parked in the driveway of the home but fled the scene in a white car occupied by other individuals. Vidrine, according to police, fired a shotgun towards the fleeing vehicle as it drove away and then followed the vehicle for a short time.

Vidrine then lost sight of the vehicle and met with Officers at that point.

After an investigation, Vidrine was arrested for one count of aggravated assault and one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrument.  He was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $7,500.00 warrant.

Chief Lartigue reminds residents that you cannot protect property with great bodily harm or deadly force.

KATC has reached out to Ville Platte Police to inquire if they are searching for the men seen in the white vehicle. We have not yet heard back from the department.

Vidrine is a member of the Ville Platte Police Jury.
