The Ville Platte High chapter of the FFA hosted a balloon release today to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Every balloon released represented a cancer survivor, fighter or angel, students said.
The event also was a fundraiser for a staff member at the school who is fighting cancer now.
Darious Ceasar, a senior at VPHS, said he feels the event was important to show their teacher they care about her.
“Today at Ville Platte High School, we did a balloon release in honor of one of our teachers who is battling cancer, and some others who have fought cancer,” he said. “I believe we’re showing we care and we’re there for them. She’s battling it right now, but we believe she’s going to be strong and win this.”
