Visitors are invited to Chicot State Park in Ville Platte on Saturday for a guided canoe tour of Chicot Lake.
The tour will begin on September 22, 2018, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
The site naturalist will take participants through the cypress-tupelo lake to learn more about the plants and animals that can be found in it. Canoeing experience is recommended. Space for this event is limited so register early to reserve your canoe.
Visitors with their own canoes or kayaks are welcome, but they still need to call and register for the event. The park is located in the heart of Louisiana, six miles north of Ville Platte in Evangeline Parish on La. 3042.
Day-use admission to the park is $3 per person ages 4-61. Groups of 10 or more can make reservations in advance for special programs.
