Ville Platte Police say they have arrested a 16-year-old and 20-year-old in connection with a shooting incident on Edward Knotoe Thomas Street and South Soileau Street.
Police were called September 10, around 7:45 pm to investigate shots fired. Police say a teenage suspect was walking on the street when he exchanged fire with 20-year-old Dequandray Thomas who was in a vehicle with a woman and a one-year-old.
Multiple bullet holes were found in the vehicle following the shoot out. No injures were reported.
The following day, September 11, Ville Platte Police say they arrested the 16-year-old in connection with the shooting. Chief Neil Lartigue says that at the time of the arrest the teen allegedly had a handgun in the front pocket of his pants. The teen was arrested and booked on three counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a juvenile, and one count of resisting an officer. He remains in police custody.
On Wednesday, police say that Thomas was arrested and booked on charges of attempted second-degree murder. He has been transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail. Thomas’ bond is set at $100,000.
An investigation is ongoing.
