The DREAMS Foundation of Acadiana is sending meat pies west to feed workers helping to clean up Lake Charles after Hurricane Laura.
Over 5,000 meat pies were made from scratch and donated to the United Way of Southwest Louisiana.
The meat pies were made at the foundation's manufacturing facility in Lafayette.
The director says the effort is to help give back to people in need.
"We've had a slow down in work because of the COVID, so we decided that rather than let the pies sit in the freezer that we would put them to good use and give them to people that need," said Donielle Watkins. "People help us to get this factory going so we thought we'd give back."
