Lake Charles Police say a man has been arrested following an armed barricade situation on Monday

At 1:05 pm on Monday, Lake Charles Police say they responded to a gun disturbance on West Hale Street. When officers arrived they made contact with the complainant.

The complainant told officers that he and his construction crew were contracted to do work next door to the residence at 233 West Hale Street. They were in the process of clearing the lot when the suspect exited his home in a wheelchair and allegedly pointed a shotgun at the complainant and stated: “I’m going to kill you if you don’t get off my land”.

Officers say the suspect then went back into 233 West Hale Street and refused to exit when they attempted to make contact with him, creating an armed barricade situation.

At 3:40 pm a search warrant for the residence and an arrest warrant for the suspect identified as 69-year-old William Griffin was obtained for aggravated assault with a firearm.

Lake Charles Police S.W.A.T team gained entry into the home and Griffin was arrested.  Police say that evidence of the aggravated assault was located in the residence.

His bond is set at $500,000.
