SOWELA’s Office of Workforce Solutions is offering a new 14-week training program for Nondestructive Testing (NDT) starting next month.
Class begins Thursday, April 4. Spots are limited. Individuals interested in learning more can attend an informational session on Thursday, March 21, from 4-6 p.m. in SOWELA’s Regional Training Center, Auditorium, 3749 Senator J. Bennett Johnston Ave., Lake Charles, LA 70616.
Those attending the informational session should bring a copy of their High School Diploma or HiSet (GED), as well as income verification if possible (such as the last 30-day pay stub). In addition to learning about the program, attendees will hear about the NDT job market and financial aid and scholarship opportunities available to those that qualify.

Nondestructive testing is a wide group of analysis techniques used in the science and technology industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component or system without causing damage. Students will be introduced to Blueprint Reading and ISO Drawings. A 40-hour Radiation Safety training to prepare students to take the State Radiation Certification Test is also included. Credentials earned include Visual Testing, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Radiography, and Ultrasonic Testing.
