A Lake Charles man was arrested on a charge of third-degree rape following an incident at an RV park in February.

Deputies say 30-year-old John F. Nichols was arrested on February 26 following an investigation into the alleged rape.
The victim told deputies that on February 23, an unknown man, now identified as Nichols, allegedly knocked her down and forced her behind a dumpster at a Lake Charles RV park before raping her.
Deputies say the victim was able to describe Nichols and the truck he was driving at the time. That information led to Nichols arrest at his residence in the same RV park where the rape occurred.
Nichols was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center charged with third-degree rape. He was released March 5 on a $200,000.
