The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says an Iowa woman has been arrested, accused of shooting at her boyfriend as he was leaving his home following an argument.
On Thursday, deputies say they responded to a call in reference to a man being shot at while leaving his residence.
The victim allegedly told police that he and his girlfriend, identified as 41-year-old Jamie A. Briggs were arguing in there home before the incident. During the argument the victim stated he attempted to hide a handgun from Briggs, which led to a physical altercation between the two. The victim then threw the handgun and fled the residence.
Deputies say that as the victim was leaving the home in his truck when Briggs shot at him with the handgun, striking the driver’s side door and the driver’s side window, as well as, the windshield.
Briggs confirmed to deputies that she fought with the victim, her boyfriend, and fired the gun at him.
Briggs was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with attempted 2nd-degree murder; illegal discharge of a firearm during a violent crime; and aggravated criminal property damage. Her bond was set at $260,000.
The victim suffered minor injuries from the physical altercation and debris from the broken window in the truck.
