Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Hwy 90 in Sulphur has died

The Sulphur Police Department says that the pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Highway 90 in Calcasieu Parish has died from his injuries.

The department says that 53-year-old Mitchell LeBlanc was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday, September 19 while crossing Highway 90 near its intersection with Crocker Street in Sulphur.

LeBlanc sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was being treated at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.

An investigation by police found that the vehicle that struck LeBlanc was going under the 30 mph speed limit and was unable to avoid hitting LeBlanc as he was crossing the roadway.

The driver of that vehicle was not cited.
