Man arrested in connection with Lake Charles hit and run that injured motorcyclist

Lake Charles Police say they have arrested a 19-year-old in connection with a hit and run that left motorcyclist severely injured

Officers say that on September 9th, at around 12:00 a.m., they responded to a hit and run at McNeese and Sale Ln. The crash involved a car and a motorcycle and the driver of the car, police say, fled the scene.

The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries in the crash

Saturday morning,  September 15th, an officer received an anonymous tip that the suspect vehicle was parked behind a residence in Cameron. The officer contacted the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office and requested their assistance.

Upon arrival at the residence in Cameron, the driver and the suspect vehicle from the hit and run were located. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was towed to the Lake Charles Police Department for processing.

The suspect driver of the vehicle was identified as 19-year-old Hayden Wayne Martin of Cameron.

Martin is being charged with felony hit and run and failure to yield. He was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.

No bond has been set yet.
