Lake Charles Police have arrested a registered sex offender and accused him of identity theft and other crimes.

Michael Landry, 51, was convicted in 2009 on indecent behavior with a juvenile, involving two little girls, meaning he must register as a sex offender and notify police of his address, vehicles and place of employment.

When Detective Colby Thompson began a theft investigation in July, he quickly learned of Landry’s alleged involvement in that case. Detective Michael Nicosia signed on when it was learned that Landry is a sex offender. Together, the team learned that Landry allegedly was using a victim’s information to purchase things online, and selling those things to make money. They also learned that Landry allegedly was using a vehicle he hadn’t registered with law enforcement.

He was booked with identity theft, theft and failure to register as a sex offender. His bond has been set at $60,000.
