Acadiana businesses team up to feed Louisiana National Guard soldiers

Global Data Systems, Inc. of Lafayette partnered with Mr. Gatti's in Crowley to provide pizza lunches to the Louisiana National Guard on Thursday.

The companies fed several hundred LNG soldiers who are currently deployed in the Lake Charles area supporting Hurricane Laura relief efforts.

"This is a devastating time for Louisiana right now", said Chris Taylor, Infrastructure Services Manager at Global Data Systems. "Having made several trips to the affected area, I've seen firsthand the tremendous impact inflicted by Hurricane Laura. The National Guard is always ready and the first to deploy after a disaster. Many soldiers are required to leave their families, jobs, etc. to take on this active duty role. We want to show even this small token of appreciation for the time and sacrifice that these true heroes constantly give. Home away from home, a good hot meal is the least we could provide them."

The Mr. Gatti's Pizza location in Lake Charles offered the use of their mobile kitchen for the effort, according to Crowley Mr. Gatti's owner Bryant Gielen, along with some employees from the same location.

"We are just glad we are able to support our servicemen during this time with some great tasting pizza," added Gielen.

Jaguar Energy Services donated various cold drinks to the event as well.
