The Sheriff of Acadia Parish gave an update to flooding in the parish on Friday with a statement on those out taking advantage of flooded crawfish ponds.

Sheriff K.P. Gibson says that crawfish fields are flooding and people will be ticketed if officers see offenders out on the roadways.

According to Gibson, people are parking on the shoulders of the roadway and in the drives of famers’ roads

“We are going to cite you and deal with it accordingly…It takes from the farmers industry and plus it costs a lot more in tickets that it will for the crawfish,” Gibson said.

He asks that those looking to collect crawfish from field refrain from doing so.
