A Church Point mother has been arrested, accused of leaving her two young children alone in a home with drugs inside.
Church Point Police say that on April 19, 2019, the department responded to a call at around midnight of young children being left alone. Upon investigation, two small children ages 5 and 2 were found inside the home.
During the investigation, officers say they located several assorted drugs lying around the residence. Social services were attempted to be contacted but did not respond back, according to Church Point PD.
Officials say the drugs were confiscated and warrants were obtained for the mother, identified as 32-year-old Mckenzie Olivier. Olivier was arrested on April 22, 2019, on the outstanding drug warrants and the children were turned over to a family member pending an investigation from Child Services.
Olivier was booked into the Church Point jail and later transferred to the Acadia Parish Jail.
She was booked on the following charges:
- Child Desertion
- Possession Tramadol
- Possession Clonazepam
- Possession Cocaine
- Possession Crystal Methamphetamine
- Possession of Marijuana
- Warrant St Landry Parish
