A Maxie man has been arrested, accused of stealing a vehicle and attempting to steal an ATM from a business in Church Point.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office says the burglary happened on January 15 at around 3:40 a.m. at the Kwik Stop on along Church Point Highway.
Upon arrival, deputies say the business was damaged from what appeared to be a vehicle hitting an entrance door. Once the business was checked, an ATM machine was discovered to have been pulled from its position. Officers say video surveillance showed the suspect attempting to steal the machine before driving off.
During the investigation, a second call regarding a stolen vehicle was received. This vehicle matched the description of the vehicle used in the Kwik Stop burglary and showed damage matching that of the Kwik Stop entrance.
These two incidents have been confirmed to be related to each other.
Deputies say they were able to discover evidence that led them to the suspect, 51-year-old William Dewayne Faulk of Maxie. Faulk was located the following day and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
He has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, 2 counts of criminal damage to property, criminal trespassing and burglary.
Faulk remains jailed on a $40,000 bond.
