Crowley Police have arrested a local man who allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and put a gun to her head.

Daniel Thibodeaux, 36, was booked with attempted first-degree murder, domestic abuse/aggravated assault and illegal possession of a firearm. No bond has been set for his release because Louisiana’s domestic violence laws prohibit immediate bond for suspects in these cases.

Police were called to a May Street home at about 3:30 a.m. and found the victim, who said her ex-boyfriend had broken into her home and ransacked it, looking for a gun.

When he found the weapon, the victim told police, he grabbed her by the head, put her head on the kitchen counter, and put the gun to her head. A few minutes later, he allegedly told her he was going to kill her, then fired the gun at the victim, barely missing her, she told police.

Video evidence secured positively identified the suspect, and the alleged weapon was located and secured by police, Chief Jimmy Broussard said.
