Seven decades of love and laughter: A Church Point couple is celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary with family and lots of dancing.

“Sometimes he says I talk too loud. I say ‘man you don’t hear well, that’s why I talk too loud,'” said Annie Comeaux.

There is never a dull moment in the Comeaux household.

“Earlier, she danced on the poles for 45 minutes. I was handing her 100 dollar bills, 50 dollar bills,” Albert Comeaux laughed.

90-year-old Annie is still kicking around with her high energy, and 89-year-old Albert still loves to dance with beer in one hand and Annie in the other.

“I take care of her,” Albert said.

“I gotta watch him! That liquor oh,” Annie shot right back, making the motion of him chugging beers.

And if you ask them how they met, it’s kind of a funny story.

“Ehh… let me tell you what happened,” said Annie.

At first, she had someone else in the picture.

“Oh I had two of them at the dance. God wanted me to pick one so I told him,” she said pointing at Albert. “I guess it was God that made me pick him. But he’s a good man.”

As for Albert, he never gave up because for him it was love at first sight.

“She came to Noah’s Dance Hall and that night I fell in love with her,” he said.

They dated for a year and a half before getting married in 1948. They owned a small grocery store and gas station and Albert even built their brick home from the ground up.

Annie and Albert now have 7 kids, 24 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

And through all the ups and downs, the Comeauxs say their love holds stronger and stronger every day.

“She’s a good nurse,” Albert joked.

The couple says their secret is faith in God, patience, lots of laughter and smothering each other in kisses and “I love yous” every night.

“Oh just wait until tonight!” he joked at Annie.

“Don’t do that! It’s on TV,” she laughed back at him.

From everyone here at KATC, we’d like to wish Annie and Albert a very happy 70th anniversary.
