Effective July 1, 2018, Church Point was certified as a Cultural District by the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism.
“The Town of Church Point has a strong history of the living traditions of music, culinary, and the French language,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser in a letter addressed to Church Point Mayor Russell Stelly. “These traditions are celebrated through public art, the Courir de Mardi Gras and the Church Point Buggy Festival.”
Individuals and businesses in the Church Point Cultural District will have the ability to apply for state historic tax credits for revitalization projects and sell original art, exempt from all local taxes.
