LAFAYETTE, La. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) and his team will be in Acadiana next week to help veterans receiving benefits.

A workshop will be held next Monday at the Rayne Civic Center. It’s the first workshop of a series to help veterans who need extra help understanding what’s offered to them.

“They know that they’ve earned a particular benefit, but they run into the thickness of the bureaucracy,” said Higgins. “The VA is the world’s largest bureaucracy. Think about it. Very difficult to navigate. And it’s easy for a veteran to just run into that brick wall.”

It will go on from 11 am to 6 pm.

“One of the challenges a lot of veterans have is transportation,” stated Higgins. “That’s why we decided to have them in less likely locations. We have one in Rayne, one in Vinton, instead of what would normally be expected–Lafayette, Lake Charles, etc.”
