For some, the end of Mardi Gras brings the start of the Lenten season. And today, many Christians and Catholics will head to churches throughout Lafayette and Acadiana to receive their ashes.
Bishop Deshotel will celebrate mass at 12:00 pm at the Cathedral of St. John in Downtown Lafayette. Other churches in Lafayette and Acadiana will also hold services at various times.

Those who are unable to stop in to attend mass or service can receive their ashes at one of several drive-thru locations
The First Lutheran Church in Lafayette will offer their drive-thru ashes service again this year from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The church is located at 301 West Farrel Road in Lafayette.
The First United Methodist Church in Youngsville will also be offering drive-thru ashes today from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Asbury United Methodist Church located on Johnston Street in Lafayette will hold services today at 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
