JENNINGS, La. – Jennings is the latest city in southwest Louisiana to receive a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.

Residents lined up Monday night in hopes of being one of the first 50 people in line during the grand opening on Tuesday.  The first 50 people received a voucher for free food for a year, according to KPLC.

Jennings’ Mayor Henry Guinn said he believes the opening of Kentucky Fried Chicken confirms growth in the city has only just begun.

“It’s a great feeling because I know we’re going in the right direction the more business that we can have and the more participation that we can have for these businesses,” said Guinn. “It means a lot, it really does.”

The fried chicken fast food chain is located at 1498 Elton Road.

Jennings is not the only city to gain a KFC. In May, a new KFC opened in Eunice at 1830 W Laurel Ave.
