Acadiana Animal Aid in need of fosters

Posted
and last updated

Stewart Little is one of three kittens found at the Cajundome two weeks ago.

"In that time frame we lost one," Heidi Paterson, with Acadiana Animal Aid, said. "Now we have two and they're very healthy and doing well. They're very cute and almost three weeks old now."

While these kittens are thriving, Paterson said there are many other felines that are not so lucky.

She said there are not enough fosters to go around.

Right now, she said, they are in need of experienced bottle feeders and fosters willing to take in a pregnant dog or cat.

"We're in kitten season right now, spring time," Paterson said. "There are so many abandoned kittens unfortunately."

Most kittens, Heidi said, do not need the same level of care that the ones found at the Cajundome need.

"When you're willing to foster them as infants," Paterson explained. "Where they become attached to you and grow up in your home--they become the most amazing pets of all."

For more information on adopting you can visit www.acadianaanimalaid.org.

Paterson said there are educational videos on YouTube that demonstrate how to bottle feed and puppy or kitten.

She said that she would even do a Zoom call with someone who wants to learn.
