Acadia Parish Sheriff's Deputies say a child was struck and killed Tuesday in Acadia Parish by a vehicle backing out of a driveway.
The incident happened around 6:54 pm on Tuesday, September 24 in the 100 block of Robin Street south of Rayne.
An investigation into the incident found that a driver was backing out from a residential driveway when it struck the child.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation remains open.
Deputies say they do not suspect impairment at this time.
