A K-9 with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office has received a donation of body armor from a Massachusetts nonprofit.

Sheriff K.P. Gibson says that K9 Iron's bullet and stab proof armor was donated by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The vest, he says, was sponsored by Diane Weilder of Holbrook, New York and embroidered with the phrase, "Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always."

The non-profit, located in East Taunton, Massachusetts, provides bullet and stab proof vests to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.

In total, the organization has donated over 3,800 vests to businesses and organizations across the country.
