Arnaudville police are investigating a shots fired case. It’s the second case of gun violence in the area in just a matter of days.

The latest case happened Sunday. Police were called for a reports of shots fired near Claire Point Highway.

While no one was injured in the case, last week a man was shot and killed on Drauzin Road.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is handling that investigation, but so far, no arrests.

It was a calm scene Monday on Point Claire Highway. A far cry from just hours earlier, when police were on scene investigating shots fired.

“This crime that’s going on around here, it’s got to stop,” Charles Duplechain of Arnaudville said.

Police say they found a car in a ditch, but the car was not shot.while no one was injured–some who live nearby say, ” that’s uncalled for.”

While the investigation continues the police chief tells says the shooting is rare for his community. It’s the first shooting investigation for his department.

“Very seldom that we even get to this point,”Arnaudville Police Chief Eddy LeCompte said. “Most of them are arguments between people. A lot of them are misdemeanors.”

Police are still interviewing people, but Chief LeCompte says there’s no need to worry.

“Based on our what has happened in the past and our track record here and just the people i think our community is fairly safe today and we’re still investigating why the other thing happened,” LeCompte said.

Others hoping, it isn’t a trend. “Praying for peace,” Duplechain said.
