EUNICE, La. – One man is recovering after being shot in the chest over night in Eunice.
Police responded to the 200 block of Jelks Street at 2 a.m. after reports of a shooting, Chief Randy Fontenot said.
The victim was returning home when the suspect approached him and demanded everything he had.
The victim said he didn’t have anything so the suspect patted him down and took his wallet, according to Fontenot.
The suspect then shot the victim in the chest with a .380 calliber handgun and left the scene.
The victim went in the house and woke up the people inside who called police.
The victim was transported to a Lafayette hospital and is stable condition.
