BATON ROUGE (KATC) – Will Wade may actually be back in Baton Rouge next season.

That’s the thought behind a Sports Illustrated report that says Wade and his attorney are working to set up a meeting with LSU officials.

Wade was suspended in March after refusing to talk with school officials about allegations that he paid, or tried paying players to come to LSU.

Wade was heard on an FBI wiretap discussing payment for freshman Javonte Smart.

Sports Illustrated reports that Wade and his new lawyer Steven Thompson have been active in setting up a conversation with the school. Wade has been adamant that he wants to return next season.

In a statement, LSU officials confirmed the conversations with the suspended coach.

“This is something we have been working on for weeks, and I can confirm the most recent talks with Will’s legal counsel have been productive,” said senior associate athletic director Robert Munson.

Wade will be subpoenaed for an April 22 federal basketball corruption trial.
