Two people arrested after police recover thousands of dollars worth of drugs

Two people are in custody after Chitimacha Tribal police responded to a complaint of a theft at a local business on Friday.

According to a spokesperson with the police department, 30-year-old Travis Tripkovich, of Youngsville, and 23-year-old Bethany Monterro, of Carencro, damaged the property, but nothing was stolen because officers arrived at the business before they were able to flee.

Search warrants were obtained, and with the assistance of K-9 Dozer, drugs valuing at almost $13,500 were found in the suspect vehicle.

Eighty-seven grams of methamphetamine, 200 grams of marijuana, 60 grams of hash oil, and nine grams of cocaine were recovered.

Chitimacha Tribal arrests

Tripkovich was arrested on the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics (methamphetamine)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics (cocaine)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics (marijuana)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (hash oil)
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous subject

Monterro was arrested on the following charges:

  • Criminal damage to property
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics (methamphetamine)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics (cocaine)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I narcotics (marijuana)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (hash oil)
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous subject

Both were transported to the St. Mary Parish Jail.
