MAMOU, La (KATC) — Choose any two of Mamou’s annual “Courir de Mardi Gras” celebrations over the last half-century, and chances are they’ll look remarkably alike.
Not much has changed since the traditional Cajun celebration was revived in the town of Mamou shortly after World War II.
The chicken run is still the chicken run. And the riders, captains and onlookers alike, are all, at least for a few hours on Fat Tuesday, transported back in time in this annual Cajun celebration.
